SUMMER COURSE 2006
Now in its 31st
Year, the Ishinryu Karate community once more descended on
Seawick Holiday Village, St Osyth, Clacton Upon Sea for the
annual summer course.
Hampered by only one day’s
poor weather (rain stopped play on second day) and the
Football World Cup 2006 (England Vs Ecuador, home team
winning 1 – 0), this was another memorable year for Ishinryu
Karate.
Ishinryu Clubs in attendance
this year were Barking & Dagenham, Eltham, Newham, Woodlane,
Upminster & Hornchurch, Corringham & Dartford, Redbridge,
Westminster, Jersey, Rochford & Shoesbury, Barking Abbey,
Tyne & Wear, Richmond & Sedgefield and Rayleigh.
Other clubs and associations
in attendance were as far a field as Ireland, USA, Senegal
and less not forget those crazy Fins from Finland.

With only one day’s poor
weather and temperatures soaring into eighties, sessions
began at 7.30am in the morning and finished at 5.30pm with a
maximum of three sessions per day. Classes compromised of a
mixture of Kumite, Kata, Grading work and Self
Defence across all grades, Kyu and Dan.
Midweek sessions included the
annual Fun Run, Karate to Music with Sensei Greg Francis and
the compulsory Fancy Dress Party. Latter half of the week
hosted the Kata and Kumite competition (all grades and ages)
and summer course Grading.
